The month of August is named after Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus, the first Roman emperor. Originally, the month was called Sextilis in Latin, as it was the sixth month of the Roman calendar. However, in 8 BCE, the Roman Senate renamed the month to honour Augustus Caesar. It is said that,

Archaeologists working at the Don Yai Thong archeological site in Thailand recently unearthed a pair of 2,000-year-old gold rings, alongside human remains. One of the rings was engraved with a Vedic astrology reference.
The engraved ring carries inscriptions in what experts think is 'Brahmi', an ancient Indian script, thought to have been derived from Aramaic. Initial analysis of the script suggests it reads ‘Pusarakhitasa’, translated to mean “The one protected by Pushya.” Those familiar with Indian or Vedic astrology will immediately recognise that this is probably in reference to the Vedic star ‘Pushya’, or ‘Pushya Nakshatra’. Nakshatras are explained in our astrology glossary, and are lunar mansions or constellations that are unique to Vedic astrology.
The Don Yai Thong archeological site is some 80 miles southwest of Bangkok.

South Korean pet owners are paying up to 20,000 won for the privilege of letting the four legged companions draw out paw selected Tarot cards of their choosing.
Hwang Soo-kyung, a Tarot reader in Gangnam district said that the cards drawn out by one such canine patron, reflected the anxiety it endured while raising a family of five puppies. The pet dog's owner, Ahn said that these are feelings that vets and dog trainers are simply unaware of.
