The 2026 Chinese New Year begins in February and will mark a transition of the 'Year of the Snake' (2025) to the 'Year of the Horse'. This is symbolic of a shift from a thoughtful, strategic year, to an energetic and ambitious one.
The key highlights of the 2026 Chinese New Year are:
A shift in energy: The previous snake year represented strategy, patience, planning and behind-the-scenes progress. The new horse year will be dynamic, energetic, action filled, geared towards outward and visible momentum.
A change of pace: Whereas the 'Year of the Snake' was introspective, calculated and methodical, the 'Year of the Horse' encourages ambition, risk-taking, travel and growth.
New horizons: Where 2025 favoured cautious dynamics for finance and relationships, 2026 is better suited to entrepreneurial ventures, career changes, innovation and expanding horizons.
Other noteworthy, although not entirely astrologically relevant dates this month include:

News Updates for February 2026
A round-up of breaking news and the most interesting stories from the world of astrology and esotericism.
According to this article in Huffpost, Donald Trump enters a Uranus return, when the planet moves back to the position it was in when he was born. Quoting astrologer Lisa Stardust the article says, “For Trump, this could mean there is an instance for rebellion in his chart. So I think that he might have some issues with a lot of his colleagues and people that he’s close with”.
According to another astrologer mentioned in the article, Liz Simmons “His ninth house is also ruled by Mars, a planet of action and aggression. So we’re looking at, in his 80th year, war on those ninth house themes. So war on education, war on the world stages”. Astrologer Celeste Brooks interpreted the solar eclipse on February 17 as meaning that this could be when Trump visits a doctor and discovers some kind of health condition.
Writing in The Cut, astrologer Aliza Kelly says that “On January 20, Saturn and Uranus will form a rare and incredibly important aspect — known as a sextile... Saturn is all about making things permanent, and Uranus is defined by innovation and progress … so maybe this is a moment when we can actually get serious about the big, sweeping changes we so desperately need to implement (both personally and collectively)?”
Kelly also says, “Prior to last year, Saturn and Uranus hadn’t connected via sextile since 1997”. Adding that a sextile is a cooperative aspect that creates opportunity, momentum, and harmony that allows different planetary agendas to work together without conflict. In Kelly’s view, the result of this alignment should be that, “You may notice that decisions feel easier to make. It’s not that the stakes are lower; it’s that you finally have the confidence to feel resolved in your choices.”

According to technology expert Rich Brooks, social media algorithms and artificial intelligence are replacing traditional pattern deciphering methods like the stars or tea leaves, for finding answers to mystical questions. However Brooks sounds a note of caution by adding that users may be prone to “Spiralism”. This refers to a psychological phenomenon where people who interact with AI extensively, may think that they are seeing some external truth, but are in fact just getting their own beliefs mirrored back at them.
Astrologer MaKayla McRae explains what the zodiac signs should expect when Neptune enters Aries after January 26. The planet will then remain in this sign until 2039. McRae says, “Neptune, the planet of spirituality, idealism, and higher realms, will transit through the direct, bold Fire sign Aries. Since Neptune takes about 165 years to orbit through all twelve zodiac signs.”
According to Alley Pascoe in Women’s Weekly, “The year 2020 marked a shift in the astrology industry. And in the past five years, it hasn’t stopped booming.”
Pascoe’s article quotes several astrologers as evidence, such as Heidi Rose Robbins who said, “I used to read for artists and healers. Now it’s CEOs and stockbrokers.” Also cited is research published in the Comprehensive Psychology journal that found that astrology helps people make sense of life during complex periods.
Also quoted is Matthew Galea, the Deputy Editor of online publisher PEDESTRIAN.TV who says, “Astrology has had a massive boom, and people are now trusting and relying upon the study of the stars more than ever.”
US TV news channel FOX5 Las Vegas, recently ran an interview with astrologer Nicole Calyx. Calyx is the author of ‘Astrology at Work’, a book that explores how astrology can be used to improve communication in the workplace. Calyx, who has a background in HR said although people may generally be sceptical, astrology is a tool that managers and employees can use to help with workspace dynamics. She goes on to add that given her background, it would be possible for her to resolve manager-subordinate conflicts, using her knowledge of astrology.
According to the Azerbaijani informational-analytical news portal News.Az, “Horoscopes for 2026 are typically built using natal chart principles—mapping how planetary movements interact with each zodiac sign’s symbolic traits. Daily and monthly horoscopes focus on faster-moving bodies like the Moon and inner planets. Yearly forecasts, by contrast, rely more heavily on Jupiter, Saturn, and the outer planets.” Based on this, the general predictions for 2026 include:
A continued global emphasis on innovation and digital transformation.
A search for stability following previous economic and social volatility.
Stronger focus on personal well-being and boundaries.
Renewed interest in education, skills, and lifelong learning.
Reflection on sustainability, resources, and community obligations.
The article also has this prediction about a rise in the global interest in astrology, “As 2026 approaches, search interest in horoscopes is likely to spike again, driven by curiosity, ritual, and annual forecasting traditions.”
According to Elle magazine, there is a worldwide trend in the hotel industry that has many establishments employing in-house astrologers, and embracing astrology as, "An increasingly central part of our culture." The article cites several examples as proof, such as the Miraval Austin. This is a new age hotel that offers a suite of astrology-focused features, including 'Wine and Your Sign', an astrology workshop that pairs zodiac archetypes with wines to complement each sign’s natural energy.
Writer Amy Clark says she grew up to be sceptical of esoteric beliefs, probably in rebellion against her “Clairvoyant-going, crystal-carrying” mother’s faith in such matters. However, having to make a major career related decision led her to seek guidance from a stored away deck of cards. Clark said, “The three cards I pulled that day resonated with me on another level. It was uncanny. Ever since, I've made it a practice to read my Tarot cards before making big life decisions.”
Streaming service Netflix, recently launched its 'Tarot Experience', an online Tarot based recommendation feature that makes streaming suggestions based on a user’s selection of cards. Netflix recommends that viewers try it out to decide what to watch in 2026.
Debbie Frank was astrologer to the late Princess Diana. She has released a new book titled, ‘Manifest With Astrology: The Secret To Your Unique Manifesting Superpower’. The book published by Hay House features a foreword by Roxie Nafousi, and is split into four sections that break down how to manifest desires using your sun sign, the angles, the planets and the universe.
Frank explains this by saying, “All of us have these superpowers – for example, if you’re an Aries, you’re a leader. Brave and courageous. If you’re Sagittarius, one of your superpowers is belief, and being able to look ahead with positive energy. Each star sign has a superpower, and by using it in this way, and recognising this about yourself, it’s really powerful.”
