A Surprising Ending to a Relationship Horary Reading

Analyzing Relationships through Horary Astrology
Analyzing Relationships through Horary Astrology
Filed Under: Astrology, Love.

Relationship questions are among the most popular and frequent in horary astrology practice. Unfortunately, horary charts for such questions often yield negative answers. The reason is simple: people whose relationships are stable don’t typically consult astrologers. The clients are usually those facing uncertainty or insecurity about a person or situation that matters to them. But are such answers absolute and final? If we receive a negative response, does that mean we should abandon all hope forever?

Let’s examine one very fateful and interesting horary question I cast for a young woman several years ago.

The Back Story

The woman (we’ll call her Dana) was in love with a young man (let’s call him Jene), whom she had known since childhood. Their parents were friends, and the children often spent time together. When Dana turned 18, she decided to confess her feelings. But the young man behaved in a way that left her confused — was he interested or not? Sometimes he would appear in her life and be charming and sweet, and they would spend a wonderful time together. Other times, he would disappear for weeks, and Dana wouldn’t know whether he would come back.

At one point, Dana decided to talk to him openly about her feelings, but he responded that she wasn’t his type and that she should find someone more worthy of her. Dana was heartbroken. She turned to me with the question: “Is there a future for me and this young man?”

Dana, the querent, is represented by the 1st house, whose cusp is in Pisces. Jupiter, as the significator, described her well: friendly, sociable, and active. Jupiter in Sagittarius, on the 10th house cusp, showed Dana’s confidence in herself and her goals. However, Neptune was also rising on the Ascendant, which precisely reflected her internal conflict. Dana felt lost, confused, and emotionally vulnerable due to Jene’s unpredictability.

Jene is represented by the 7th house, whose cusp is in Virgo. His significator, Mercury, is in a very weak condition. It’s located in the derived 6th house (the radical 12th), in fall, and had just recently come out from under the Sun’s beams. Jene was overwhelmed, depressed, and extremely unstable in his desires. The cadent 12th house placement amplified the sense of powerlessness and confusion. The chart immediately showed the vast difference between Dana and Jene’s internal states, intentions, and life circumstances. Dana was hopeful and believed she could succeed in both her personal and professional life. Jene, meanwhile, was lost and confused, his feelings highly unstable — one day he felt one thing, the next day something completely different, which only deepened Dana’s confusion.

But did he like her? Affection in horary is determined by receptions and aspects between the significators. There was no aspect between Jupiter and Mercury, but Jupiter was Mercury’s dispositor. This meant Dana liked Jene, and he was under her influence. However, Mercury has its detriment in Sagittarius — so he had no feelings at that time and possibly felt unworthy of Dana. The absence of aspects gave little hope for the development of a relationship. There were also no minor receptions between Mercury and Jupiter.

Let’s look at the Moon, which shows where the querent’s heart lies in horary charts. The Moon was in the 2nd house, in Taurus — its sign of exaltation. This confirmed Dana’s idealization of her relationship with Jene — she viewed it as especially valuable and desirable. We should also consider Venus, an important planet in romantic horaries. Venus was in the 11th house, in Capricorn (in triplicity), and moving toward a conjunction with Saturn. Venus afflicted by Saturn signifies dissatisfaction and obstacles in love and mutuality. There was also no aspect between Venus and the Sun, which can sometimes represent a positive union of masculine and feminine energy.

Moreover, the 11th radical house is the 5th derived house from the 7th — Jene’s romantic interests. Venus’s position there indicated the presence of another girl, but the chart showed no satisfying relationship with her either. Mercury and Venus had a few minor receptions, so Jene did like the other girl.

To forecast the situation’s future development, we examine aspects between the significators and the Moon. Mercury and Jupiter formed no aspects, but the Moon was moving toward a trine with Venus. This is generally a positive sign, but in this context, it confirmed Jene’s emotional involvement with someone else.

The chart’s answer was clear: Jene wasn’t ready for a relationship at that time, and until he figured out what he wanted, Dana had little chance for mutual love with him. Additionally, there was another girl in his life, even if the relationship wasn’t serious.

The horary did not promise a relationship — and that’s exactly what happened. The couple parted ways. Dana moved to another city to study. Jene started dating someone else. Later, Dana also met another young man. The story seemed over. Not meant to be.

But not quite.

Perhaps the horary didn’t give a positive answer for the present, but I noted the very strong Jupiter on the Midheaven cusp, indicating the future. It was favorable for the querent’s wish fulfillment, and the fact that Jupiter, the planet of luck, was so powerful in the chart was a good omen. A few years later, Dana and Jene met again. They had matured and gone through their own life experiences. Jene finally understood what he wanted. Their romantic relationship resumed — and ended in marriage. The initial horary truthfully showed that no relationship was possible at the time, but fate — and Dana’s love — had their own plans. They’ve now been married for a year, and couldn’t be happier.
