Beck Lawrence, tarot reader and owner of The Serpent's Key in Hanover, York County, USA is suing the borough police chief over a 163-year-old law. This law places a ban on tarot reading, which Lawrence claims infringes on First Amendment rights.
In October 2023, Lawrence received an email stating that the Hanover Borough police chief would be coming to the shop. Accordig to Lawrence, "He was going to stop by or send one of his officers by in order to inform me that tarot reading was illegal in Pennsylvania due to a statute that dates back to 1861".
Lawrence has drafted a 19 page lawsuit through her lawyer and she says, "We are suing the chief of police of Hanover in his official capacity, as well as the Hanover borough". Lawrence also clarified they are pursuing the lawsuit not only to keep the shop but to continue fighting for marginalised communities adding that,
"I'm willing to take this fight up to the Supreme Court if I have to."
CBS Pittsburgh invited the creator of Pittsburgh Astrology, Sadie Hamm to talk about zodiac signs. In the process, Hamm takes a closer look the hosts' signs. One of the show's hosts confesses that she believes there's a lot of truth to astrology.

The director of the Delta Adult Night School Education Programme at the time, Armin Kutzner said the district was offering the astrology class, among over 100 other classes, due to public request. It is not known if any changes were made in response to Dr. Szetela's letter.
