Mars & Uranus Meet Up in Taurus in Mid-July Ushering in a Period of Big Changes

The planets Mars and Uranus will form a conjunction in 26° of Taurus on July 15, 2024 that will set the stage for some major shake-ups that will reverberate on global and personal levels. Mars and Uranus are conjunct every two years because Mars has a two-year cycle. The last time that they were conjunct was on August 2, 2022 in 18° of Taurus. It happens more frequently than the Jupiter-Uranus conjunctions, which occur approximately every 13 to 14 years. We had one this year on April 20, in 21° of Taurus. In a way, it is very fitting that we are experiencing conjunctions to Uranus from both Jupiter and Mars because 2024 is a year of transition hurling us towards the future.

What are the themes of a Mars-Uranus conjunction? It is a very radical, rebellious vibe that motivates us to break free of limiting situations and achieve a measure of freedom. We want excitement and change with this very erratic energy. Breakthroughs, breakdowns and big shifts are afoot. We can be feeling quite impatient and impulsive, but try not to take major risks. Follow your passions and desires (Mars) and be open to experimenting with something new (Uranus). The sign of Taurus is fixed earth, so hopefully it will help us be more grounded in embracing the changes that are coming. I have never been a student of fixed stars, but this Mars-Uranus conjunction happens to be conjunct Algol in 26° of Taurus and this is too important to ignore. Algol is an eclipsing binary star that is also known as 'Beta Persei' and sometimes called the 'Demon Star'. It is 90 light years from Earth and is associated with violence and bloodshed. Ptolemy described Algol as an unfortunate star that indicated death by decapitation. Leaders could literally lose their heads or their power when Mars and Uranus conjunct Algol. It mirrors the myth of the Hero Perseus' victory over the snake-headed Gorgon Medusa.

There Could be Trouble

Why am I bringing up Algol in regards to the Mars-Uranus conjunction? Algol has a very slow orbit and it resides in Taurus. It has only moved one degree since I was born in the 1950s. But the Mars-Uranus-Algol conjunction is also conjunct Donald Trump's Midheaven in 24° of Taurus and the Republican National Convention starts on July 15 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This could indicate a dethroning of Donald Trump at the convention, or mob violence occurring at the convention. At the very least, it alludes to the theme of disruptions at the convention which lasts until July 18. If you have any planets or points in your chart that are between 23-26° of Taurus, you will feel the effects of this conjunction in the form of some type of turmoil.
