News Updates for July 2026
A round-up of breaking news and the most interesting stories from the world of astrology and esotericism.
Journalist Carlos Orsi makes a social and psychological examination of astrology in his book, ‘What Science Says About Astrology’. While looking at the history of astrology, Orsi quotes Saint Augustine (354-430), who in his book ‘City of God’ asked, “What scope is left to the judgment of God, who is Lord of both stars and men, in relation to the deeds of men,” adding, “If a celestial necessity is assigned to those deeds?”
Orsi cites many points while trying to debunk astrological beliefs, but also concedes that even sceptics rate favourable astrological reports as accurate and become more accepting of astrology.
Youtube astrologer, Kelsey discusses the astrological factors at play that a person experiences between the ages 30 to 50. Kelsey says we end a Saturn return in our 30s, and this marks the gateway to adulthood. In the video Kelsey also observes that at around age 44, most people experience a Uranus opposition, which leads to many a midlife crisis.
The United States marked 250 years of indepence under a rare astrological alignment of its first Pluto return, and its third Uranus return. According to astrologer Lisa Stardust, writing in Dazed, this is a “Rare astrological pressure point”. Stardust says that this not only raises the question as to whether America is changing but, “How deeply, and at whose expense?” Stardust also says that Americans, “Have an opportunity to redefine the nation’s rules”, whatever that means.
In this piece, astrologer Harshada Desai explains that Pluto occupying the zodiac sign of Aquarius till 2044 will, “Reshape how society organises power, knowledge, and human connection” during this period. Desai says, “In Roman mythology, Pluto was the god of the underworld, the ruler of everything hidden beneath the surface”, adding “Pluto exposes, dismantles, and transforms — whether we are ready or not.” Aquarius on the other hand, relates to networks, technology, innovation and humanitarianism, and has a more collective, rather than individual focussed influence. Therefore, it can shape how these spheres of life affect society in general. Astrologer Desai therefore interprets Pluto in Aquarius as leading “To an upheaval. It will be embedded in infrastructure - healthcare, legal systems, education, and governance. Meanwhile, the debate around who benefits from AI will continue to grow.” Desai sounds a word of caution saying, “However, this transformation will not be gentle.”
‘Kosher Astrology’, the book that didn’t live up to its name.
“Kosher Astrology: A Jewish Guide to Celestial Wisdom” written by Yitzchok Aharon Pinkesz is a book claiming to present the authentic astrology of Chazal, Jewish teachings that discuss celestial influences. The author also claimed to have received the endorsement of a US based Rabbi, David Cohen, quickly turning the book into a bestseller.
It later turned out that the book’s content had reportedly been largely adapted from non-Jewish and Christian sources, commonly associated with modern astrology. According to Rabbi Yisroel Marelus who has spent years studying astronomy, Kosher Astrology is, in his view, largely modern gentile astrology mixed with Christian sources.
Rabbi Cohen later explicitly requested that it be made publicly known that the author misrepresented his statements, and that he vehemently opposes both the book and the author’s actions.
Mercury, the planet of communication, transportation, technology and cognition turned retrograde at 26 degrees in Cancer on Monday, June 29. Celebrity astrologer Aliza Kelly’s advice for this phase is, “Because this retrograde happens in Cancer, the lessons are likely to be more emotional than logistical. Sure, you should still double-check your travel plans, proofread your emails, and avoid spilling your Aperol spritz on your laptop when you’re supposed to be working from home and not dining alfresco. But the deeper work of this retrograde is internal.”
Kelly also says, “July is guaranteed to be one of the most intense months of 2026 — nay, of our lifetimes?!” because of the prevailing planetary alignments.
Mashable India go on a tour of Tarot reader Monisha Khatwani’s home. Khatwani explains the significance of all the spiritual artefacts and divine idols she uses in her home to attract positivity, abundance and peace.
The 2026 NBA finals were contested between the San Antonio Spurs and the New York Knicks. Astrologer Lisa Stardust made her predictions for the finals in TODAY magazine before the final game. According to Stardust’s predictions, if the finals are decided on June 10, the Knicks should win. If the contest requires a game on June 13, this should again end in a win for the Knicks.
In the event, Stardust's predictions proved to be accurate, as the New York Knicks won the 2026 NBA finals in a 4-1 series against the San Antonio Spurs, with the final game being played on June 13.

Montúfar’s suggestions for flavours based on dates of birth are:
In another piece in Parade magazine, Narayana Montúfar says, “As Jupiter moves through bold, expressive Leo, four zodiac signs are positioned to experience major growth, confidence boosts, and expanded opportunities in the year ahead.” Montúfar says, “Jupiter will form powerful connections with Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto”, and as it does so, “Every single zodiac sign will experience new beginnings.”
Montúfar says these zodiac signs will benefit the most during this transit:
